Melissa Foster has been a professional musician for most of her life, traveling as part of the award winning “Foster Family String Band. She was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year in 1990 in Bluegrass Music. She’s proud to be an international recording artist from the Muscle Shoals area of Alabama. Melissa has a display feature in the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and has been a featured artist for the Smithsonian Institute’s traveling exhibit on “Roots Music in America.”

Melissa and the remaining members of the Foster Family were inducted into the Alabama Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2018. She has been a volunteer for the Miss Alabama/Miss America Organizations for over 30 years and is a state
recognized judge in Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. She currently lives in Florence, Alabama.
